Key Points from the Presentation

For this project, our group a comprehensive marketing plan for Paddle Battle, a youth pickleball tournament hosted at The Podium in Spokane

  • Short-Term Goal:

    • Create an engaging and accessible tournament for youth (ages 8–18)

    • Provide opportunities to develop skills, improve competitive ratings, and experience tournament play

  • Long-Term Goal:

    • Showcase youth talent and passion for pickleball

    • Support efforts to establish pickleball as a school-sanctioned sport in Washington State

  • Key Marketing Objectives:

    • Bring outside revenue into the Spokane community

    • Grow the game of pickleball locally by 10%

    • Demonstrate strong youth demand and participation in the sport

  • Target Markets:

    • Youth athletes (ages 8–18): Primary focus on creating excitement and engagement

    • Parents: Key decision-makers influencing registration and participation

    • Academic administrators: Secondary audience to support long-term goal of school adoption

  • Marketing Strategies & Tactics:

    • Promote the event through local schools and community outreach

    • Introduce youth pickleball camps to build interest and skill development

    • Position the tournament as UTR-P certified to increase competitive appeal and participation

    • Emphasize both fun and competitive opportunity to maximize turnout

  • Connection to Learning Outcome & Mission:

    • Applied core marketing concepts including target segmentation, strategic promotion, and goal alignment

    • Reflected the Gonzaga University mission by promoting community engagement, youth development, and creating inclusive opportunities through sport
