U.S. Open Player Services Staff
Practice Court Reservation Desk

During my internship at the US Open, I worked at the practice court reservation desk, where I was responsible for coordinating practice and match warm-up schedules for professional athletes throughout the tournament.
With a high volume of players and a limited number of courts, the role required constant real-time problem solving and decision-making. Each day involved balancing athlete requests, adjusting schedules, and communicating with players and coaches to ensure fair and efficient court access.
One of the most challenging situations occurred during a day of heavy rain, which significantly reduced our court availability and had the potential to disrupt player preparation. In response, our team relied on a structured system to prioritize match warm-ups and communicate changes clearly and professionally. This required adaptability and collaboration to minimize disruption and maintain order in a high-pressure environment.
Through this experience, I demonstrated the ability to make effective decisions under pressure while prioritizing fairness, organization, and athlete needs. This directly reflects the Gonzaga University mission by demonstrating critical thought and creativity. Additionally, by interacting with players from all over the world, this opportunity helped me grow in intercultural competence.
